From MMSD Director of Educational Services, Ann Yehle:
The first of two listening sessions for school staff was held on December 2nd at La Follette High School. Educational Services staff spent a few minutes sharing information relative to the status of our English language learners and our students with disabilities and provided updates on department and district efforts related to ESL/bilingual and special education. Those in attendance had the opportunity to share what is going well and any concerns/areas where we need to focus more attention. The raw data obtained from this listening session is attached.
First, I was impressed that the district held this session and is publicizing the results of what was discussed. But even more encouraging were the observations of staff and leaders in the district, who seem to have a strong sense of both what is going well and what needs to improve.
Do people on this website have suggestions for what we as a grassroots group could do to support the district as it works toward improvements in inclusive practices and overall improved achievement for all our students?
