Our School Experience

In elementary school,some of the staff were helpful and most years went pretty well. Middle school was great because my son's case manager--the same person for all three years!--really understood him and did an excellent job of training,supporting and supervising the SEAs. High school has been very difficult. We are hoping to be able to work through the issues because,if I understand correctly,my son can only get DVR support at age 21,if he stays in HS until then.

MMSD should ask its veteran and recently retired sp ed teachers to mentor and support new staff in order to improve skills and reduce burnout and turnover. When observing my son's program at EHS this year,I found that he had a substitute SEA who was a retired sp ed teacher who volunteers. This guy was awesome! he was FAR superior to any SEA that I have ever seen.
